Radiotherapy Centers


INVAP-MEDICAL SERVICES offers the design and construction of complete customized "turn-key" Radiotherapy Center Service modules, in accordance with the needs and requirements of each case.

These projects comprise the architectural design of the centre, shielding calculation, management and construction of the facility, as well as the installation and start-up of the treatment and simulation equipment. This usually includes ancillary equipment, accessories and complementary systems related to this type of service.

Preventive and corrective maintenance programmes are also provided for the units there installed, as well as training for maintenance engineers and technicians.

MENDOZA SCHOOL OF NUCLEAR MEDICINE
(Mendoza - Argentina)


The building, designed and built under INVAP direction, comprises bunkers for the radiotherapy units (Cobalt Therapy unit and Linear Accelerator) and the cyclotron. Also provided were analysis laboratories and classrooms. INVAP supplied part of the equipment of the project, including one TERADI 800 C cobalt teletherapy unit, one UNISIM universal simulator for radiotherapy treatment and radiochemistry modules for the positron emission tomograph (PET). The covered surface of the School of Nuclear Medicine is of 2,000 square meters, in three levels.

SAN LUIS REGIONAL POLYCLINIC RADIOTHERAPY SERVICE
(San Luis - Argentina)


This project was wholly developed by INVAP. Its installations where delivered on a turn-key basis in only three months. The radiotherapy service comprises the bunker - with one TERADI 800 C cobalt therapy unit, the shielded brachytherapy room and the simulation room with one universal radiotherapy simulator. As complementary services, there are the physicist´s and consulting rooms, dressing rooms, waiting rooms, reception and restrooms. The treatment given to the service's façade was in accordance with the architectural style of the San Luis Regional Polyclinic. The covered surface is of 280 square metres, in a single level.

NASR CITY RADIOTHERAPY SERVICE
(Cairo - Egypt)


This project was carried out within the new installations of the Egyptian Atomic Authority's medical centre in Nasr City, Cairo. INVAP was in charge of the architectural and functional design, as well as of radiobiological shielding calculations. The radiotherapy service building comprises the bunker - where the TERADI 800 C radiotherapy unit is located - and the simulation room, both with their control and dressing rooms, physicist and mould rooms, consulting rooms and restrooms. The covered surface of the radiotherapy service is of 300 square metres. The works were completed in June 1999.


RADIOTHERAPY SERVICE OF THE MARIE CURIE MUNICIPAL ONCOLOGY HOSPITAL
(Buenos Aires -Argentina)


This project is located on the premises of the Marie Curie Hospital; INVAP was in charge of the architectural and functional design of the remodelling of the service, as well as of radiobiological shielding calculation for the treatment and simulation rooms. The radiotherapy service area comprises the bunker - where one TERADI 800 D cobalt teletherapy unit is located - and the simulation room - where the UNISIM universal simulator is installed - both with their control and dressing rooms, physicist room where the treatment scheduling system was installed and mould room, consulting room and restrooms. The covered surface of the remodelled radiotherapy service is of 200 square metres. The works were completed in June 2000.

19 Radiotherapy Centers for various public hospitals all over Venezuela


At the time of this writing we have under construction 19 complete Radiotherapy Centers located all over the country. INVAP-SM delivers these Centers on an turnkey basis, complete with spares and maintenance services for five years. These centers are equipped with TERADI 800 cobalt irradiation systems and UNISIM simulators plus Elekta Linear Accelerators. The complete job includes the study of the emplacements, the construction of the radiation "bunkers" and the provision of all ancillary services.
