A creamy white Argentine Navy Aviation Command (CANA) PLATES equipped ORION about to take off from Ushuaia, in a routine patrol over the Beagle channel.

PLATES 440 – Stabilized platform

PLATES 440 is a highly robust stabilized platform for electro-optical sensors in the visible and infra-red wavelengths, airborne for surveillance and for search and rescue missions.

This platform can deal with extreme environmental conditions, and, at customer’s demand, can run on military-grade or on commercially qualified components.

Lodged in the nose radome but fully receiving the flight-generated airstream, PLATES can withstand freezing temperatures and highly saline conditions with no observed performance losses, while keeping maintenance at a minimum.

In the first Navy model, the gyro-stabilized array has been equipped with two cameras to acquire images in the following bands:

PLATES lodged into the nose radome of a P3 ORION of the Argentine Navy.
  • Infra-red, in the 8-14 nm, with a 320x240 pixel detector and 9 deg. FOV.
  • Visible, with zoom and colour image, and FOV 4.8/44.6 deg.

Applications

  • Search and rescue missions
  • Surveillance
  • Coastal patrolling
  • Fire fighting operations
